BH vs MS | Twitter praises Peirson’s stunning reflexes after wicketkeeper goes airborne to end Maxwell’s stay

Catches win matches, they say, and Jimmy Peirson had no second thoughts as his stunning effort ended Glenn Maxwell’s stay in the BBL game against Melbourne Stars. The Brisbane Heat wicketkeeper produced a full-fledged dive in Brisbane to latch on to a sharp catch from the Aussie all-rounder.

The visitors were expected to consolidate with two experienced batters but Maxwell’s innings was cut short by an excellent fielding effort from Jimmy Peirson. With left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann tossing up a delivery around middle and leg, the Aussie all-rounder instantly went for the reverse sweep.
But he failed to make good contact and ended up gloving the ball as it ballooned in front of him. However, Peirson was very alert as he kept his eyes on the ball despite Maxwell blinding him momentarily with his change of stance.
Just as Maxwell got ready to breathe a sigh of relief, the wicketkeeper quickly moved to his right before throwing himself in the air. And the dive paved off as he got his gloves under the ball right on time to complete a splendid effort.
Maxwell could not believe his luck as he departed cheaply yet again to put the Stars in all sorts of trouble. Twitter was in awe of Peirson’s effort, which brought his side back into the contest.
