Rangpur Riders qualified for the final of the Global Super League 2025 points table with an eight-run win, their third consecutive victory of the season, in Guyana on Wednesday. Iftikhar Ahmed and captain Nurul Hasan’s unbeaten 54-run stand off 32 balls guided Rangpur to 158/5 in 20 overs, while off-spinner Saif Hassan returned impressive figures of 3/20 in three overs to halt Dubai’s chase at 150.

Opting to bat first at Providence Stadium, Rangpur lost opener Ibrahim Zadran in the first over with the score reading just three. Fellow opener Soumya Sarkar (36) and Kyle Mayers (19) briefly steadied the innings but the side slipped from 65/2 to 104/5 in the space of six overs. Iftikhar and Nurul’s blitz towards the end of the innings took the side past the 150-run mark. The pair hit two sixes and three fours each to remain unbeaten on 41 off 32 balls and 34 off 18 balls, respectively. For Capitals, the spin trio of Shakib Al Hasan, Qais Ahmad and Rohan Mustafa picked up a wicket apiece.

Chasing 159, Dubai started on the back foot with three of their batters back in the hut by the fifth over with only 28 on the board. Sediqullah Atal and Sanjay Krishnamurthi put together 48 for the fourth wicket to keep them in the hunt. Sediqullah hit four fours and a six to top-score for Capitals with a 31-ball 38 while Krishnamurthi had a four and a six in his score of 27. But once the pair departed, the Capitals had a tough ask with 74 runs needed from 44 balls with only four wickets in hand. But Dominic Drakes (22) and Qais (18) played entertaining cameos to bring the side close with nine to get off the last eight balls. But the duo perished in the space of two balls as the Capitals innings folded out with four balls to spare. For Rangpur, pacer Khaled Ahmed picked up 2/14 to chip in alongside Saif to help the team continue their unbeaten run in GSL 2025.
