ENG vs IND | Twitter impressed as Shubman Gill’s double hundred takes India to commanding total

India picked up three quick wickets after Shubman Gill’s marathon 269 powered the visitors to 587 in the first innings against England in the second Test in Birmingham. England ended the day at 77/3 with Joe Root and Harry Brook at the crease and the hosts still adrift by 510 runs.
Gill continued to make merry bringing up his first double hundred in Tests before completing his 250 in the same session. He added another valuable 144 for the seventh wicket with Washington Sundar (42) as India went past the 550-run mark. However, he was dismissed 31 runs short of an epic triple-hundred as he went past Virat Kohli to own the record of the highest individual score as captain of India in Tests. Soon the Indian innings also folded for 587 in the final session.
England started shakily in pursuit of a tall total as Akash Deep struck off consecutive deliveries in his second over. The in-form opener Ben Duckett and the number three batter Ollie Pope were both caught in the slip cordon with the other opener Zak Crawley also following in the eighth over from Mohammed Siraj. However, Joe Root and Ollie Pope rebuilt the England innings with a 52-run partnership denying India another wicket as the home team ended day two at 77/3.

Yes!
Historic knock by Shubman Gill — the first Indian captain to score an unbeaten 265! 🔥 Pure dominance with the bat, leading from the front in style. Hats off to Ravindra Jadeja as well for his solid support and smart strokeplay. A partnership to remember! 🇮🇳🙌

Agreed!
Akash Deep is the second best pacer after Jasprit Bumrah at this moment but Gautam Gambhir keep backing fraud Mohammad Siraj ahed of him even he had horrible Australian tour.
