Cricket is so dependent on the weather, overhead conditions, the surface and even the ball with which it is played. England pacer Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes were not impressed with Ravindra Jadeja as he ran on the pitch with his spikes while he was batting but his reply had everyone in splits.

‌Indian skipper Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja continued their overnight partnership from day one of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday. The pair brought up their 100-run association in the first ball of the day with Jadeja coming up with another important knock for India in Tests as he completed his half-century in the fourth over. With Shubman Gill also looking comfortable India sat comfortably at 330/5 looking to dominate the all-important first hour of the day.

Just then Jadeja got into some banter with England pacer Chris Woakes as he completed his run-up after bowling a short of a length delivery from around the stumps. Jadeja dabbed it with soft hands in front of the cover fielder and tried stealing a single before thinking otherwise and turning back.

But the pacer felt that the all-rounder ran on the pitch with his spikes and caused damage as he turned back which may benefit him later in the day or game. He ran into Jadeja pointing his fingers to the mark caused by the batter to make his displeasure public.

Jadeja, as he is so used to, came up with an epic reply telling Woakes that he will not bowl on that mark. And that had England captain Ben Stokes also joining in as he was getting ready to bowl the next over. Stokes was unimpressed with Jadeja’s response and when queried Jadeja shut out the noise mentioning he was only focusing on his batting.

Twitteratti was in splits as Stokes made weird expressions with his face before continuing to his bowling mark.
