The BCCI is yet to confirm their scheduled participation in the tour of Bangladesh, which will be taking place next month. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam has mentioned that the Indian cricket board is still waiting for a decision from the government.
The international cricket season has started with the Indian team set to play some big games going forward. The next series announced after the ongoing England tour was against Bangladesh, with whom they were set to play three ODIs and three T20Is starting from August 17.
However, BCB president Aminul Islam has revealed during a press conference in Dhaka that the schedule for the upcoming series is yet to be confirmed since the BCCI is still waiting for confirmation from the Indian government. Aminul has also said that the discussions with the board have been positive, and they are hopeful that they will play the Indian team in the next available window if the series does not take place in August.
“I have already spoken to the BCCI. Discussions have been positive. We remain hopeful. It is scheduled [next month] but they are waiting for some decisions from the government,” the BCB President said during the six-hour-long press conference.
“The discussions are ongoing. If for some reason they can't come [in August], they will come at the next available window. We are hopeful of playing in this window. I can't say much apart from the fact that they are very professional and cooperative,” he added.
The Bangladesh team will next be seen in a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka following their 1-0 loss against the island nation in the two-match Test series. The assignment is set to be Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s first as full-time skipper after taking over from the sacked Najmul Hossain Shanto.
