For the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, Bayern Munich secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, with Harry Kane ending his four-game goal drought. Kane opened the scoring in the ninth minute, heading in a cross from Michael Olise past Nordi Mukiele. He later doubled his tally in the 75th minute, converting a penalty after Edmond Tapsoba fouled him in the box. This marked Kane’s 30th consecutive successful penalty.

Jamal Musiala also found the net for Bayern, while Leverkusen struggled after Mukiele was sent off with a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Kingsley Coman. Kane, who hadn't scored since Bayern’s 2-1 win over Celtic on February 2, now has 21 goals in 22 Bundesliga matches this season, including nine penalties. His two goals in this match increased his Champions League tally to nine for the season.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany remained cautious, stating, "It's halftime, nothing's decided," ahead of the second leg in Leverkusen next Tuesday. Kane praised Bayern’s performance, highlighting their strong focus from the start. With a commanding lead, Bayern is in a strong position to advance in the tournament.
