Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to chase Liam Delap after Ipswich Town relegation to the Championship. The 22-year-old striker scored 12 Premier League goals in his debut top-flight season. His £30 million release clause is now active. United, who also target Matheus Cunha, and Chelsea could both make a move once the summer window opens on June 1.

When the 2024–25 Premier League season ended, Ipswich Town were officially relegated after a 3-0 loss to Newcastle United, setting up a likely summer exit for their young star Liam Delap. The 22-year-old striker impressed in his first Premier League season by scoring 12 goals, despite Ipswich’s struggles.

His £30 million release clause has now been activated due to the club’s relegation, making him an attractive target for bigger clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in signing him when the summer transfer window opens on June 1. United, who are also close to signing Wolves striker Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million, are looking to add two forwards, with Delap and Victor Osimhen among their top choices.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna insisted that Delap's departure is not yet guaranteed and praised his potential to succeed at top clubs, highlighting that Delap is still young and developing. Although McKenna believes there is still a chance Delap could stay, the lure of Premier League giants may be too strong. With Ipswich joining Southampton and Leicester in dropping to the Championship, the race to sign Delap is expected to heat up quickly once the window opens.
