Lucknow Super Giants committed their third over-rate offence of IPL 2025, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana in Lucknow on Tuesday, and have been duly fined. Rishabh Pant bears the brunt as captain with a fine of INR 30 lakh but will not be suspended for the next game.

R‌ishabh Pant has been fined INR 30 lakh for leading Lucknow Super Giants to a slow finish for the third time this season. Both previous offences came against the Mumbai Indians, on April 4 and April 27 for which he was fined INR 12 lakh and INR 24 lakh respectively. As per the tournament's rules, the rest of the playing lineup -- 12 in the IPL's case owing to the Impact Player rule -- are also fined '25% of their match fee or INR 6 lakhs, whichever is lesser' for the second offence and then the lower amount of 50% or INR 12 lakhs for the third offence, as committed against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 27.

To make matters worse, the teamf ailed to walk away with a victory and ended their season with six wins in 14 games, enough for a seventh place finished amongst the 10 teams. The hosts were well placed for victory after setting RCB 228 to chase but stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma's maiden IPL half-century stole the game from under LSG's nose. Previously, Rishabh Pant had struck his first century of the campaign, his unbeaten 61-ball 118 bookending a difficult first campaign in Lucknow where he aggregated 151 runs in the 13 games thus far.
