The England Women's team has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series, following the ongoing T20I series against India Women. The series is expected to start on July 16 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton and will mark the return of England top-order batter Maia Bouchier as well as premier left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who played their last ODI match during the Women’s Ashes in January. Ecclestone was left out of the squads thereafter since she was recovering from a knee injury and will now be replacing fellow spinner Sarah Glenn in the squad. Bouchier, on the other hand, was last seen in the warm-up games representing the ECB Development Women's XI where her last two scores were 104* and 35 against India Women.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt will continue to lead the team in the ODI series despite facing fitness issues. Notably, the 32-year-old experienced campaigner sustained a groin injury during the second T20I, which resulted in her being ruled out of the last three games of the series and was eventually replaced by Bouchier. Despite the injury, the selectors seem to be confident that Brunt will be fit enough to lead the side in the 50-over format against the Women in Blue.
England ODI squad: Nat Sciver-Brunt (capt), Em Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones, Emma Lamb, Linsey Smith.
