WI vs AUS | Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon shine as Australia skittle out West Indies to seal series

Australia beat West Indies by 133 runs on the fourth day of the second Test at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon picked up three wickets while Josh Hazlewood got two as the visitors bowled out the Windies in quick time to seal the three-match series.

‌Australia needed just 34.3 overs on day four to skittle out West Indies in the second Test at the National Cricket Stadium in St.George’s, Grenada on Sunday. With the 133-run win, the visitors also retained the Frank Worrell Trophy as they lead the three-Test series 2-0.

Starting the day at 221/7, Australia lost their remaining wickets adding just 22 runs to their overnight score as they set the home side with a challenging target of 277. Alex Carey scored 30, to add to the 63 he scored in the first innings, while Mitchell Starc remained unbeaten on 13. Pacer Shamar Joseph was the pick among the Windies’ bowlers with figures of 4/66 while Jaydon Seales, Alzarri Joseph and Justin Greaves all ended with two wickets.

West Indies did not show enough stomach for a chase as they were bowled out for 143 runs, conceding the match in quick time. Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc and off-spinner Nathan Lyon got 3/24 and 3/42, respectively, while Josh Hazlewood picked up two. For the Windies, captain Roston Chase was the top run-getter in their second innings with 34 while Shamar hit three sixes during his cameo of 24 from 23 balls.

The third and final Test of the series will be held at Sabina Park in Jamaica with the day-night match starting on Saturday, July 12.
