VIDEO | Dhawal Kulkarni’s celebration turns into sudden despair as bails remain unmoved despite stumps 'lighting off'

It is for the third time in the IPL 2019 that the bails remained unmoved even after the ball hit the stumps with ferocious speed. Dhawal Kulkarni had celebrated wildly for castling Chris Lynn with an inswinger, but the bails didn’t move from its position, even though the stump lights came on.

Rajasthan Royals have all the reasons to feel aggrieved by the “sticky nature” of the stumps in this edition of the IPL after remaining unlucky for the second time in one week. A Jofra Archer delivery on the other night ended its journey on a bizarre fashion as the ball rolled on to the stumps, but to everyone's surprise the bails didn't come off the groove to give MS Dhoni a life.

Tonight, Dhawal Kulkarni was completely devastated for the second instance with his team as it allowed Chris Lynn an easy opportunity to carry on with his innings. On the very next delivery of Rahul Tripathi dropping a sitter, Kulkarni managed to get the ball move into Lynn, who had considerable problems against facing such deliveries, and tried to beat him on that. Trying to counter it, the Aussie got a thin inside edge and the ball straight away struck the leg-stump.

Kulkarni was quite excited after the dismissal, but his happiness suddenly turned into despair as soon as he found out that the bails hadn’t come off the groove. Ajinkya Rahane was not happy by it either and complained to the umpire that how was it possible after a pacer’s delivery hit the stumps. But the umpire didn’t give a fuss about it and called it a bye four as the ball had already crossed the boundary ropes after hitting the stumps.
