IPL 2017| Ashish Nehra out for rest of the season; Yuvraj Singh to undergo fitness test

Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody has revealed that Ashish Nehra has been ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2017, while Yuvraj Singh will have to undergo a fitness test to decide whether or not he will play against KKR tomorrow. Hyderabad takes on Kolkata in the eliminator tomorrow in Bangalore.

Speaking to the media ahead of the all-important match tomorrow, Moody said, “Ashish Nehra won’t be fit for the remainder of the tournament.” Nehra was forced to leave the field with a hamstring injury during SRH’s game against RPS on May 6 and Hyderabad subsequently went on to lose that game by 12 runs.

Even though the pacer has featured in only 6 of Hyderabad’s 14 league games, he has played an important role with the ball, both at the start as well as the end of the innings. More importantly, he has managed to form a successful partnership with Siddharth Kaul and he will certainly be missed in tomorrow’s game given that Kolkata have power hitters in the form of Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn at the top of the order.

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh, who sustained a finger injury in the game against Mumbai Indians will have to undergo a fitness test to confirm his availability. Moody said, “Yuvraj will be undergoing a fitness test this evening. We will be giving him obviously the opportunity to prove his fitness.”

Yuvraj’s absence could be more decisive given that he has also been named in India’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Did you know, Dhoni is the 1st player to score 1000 runs in T20Is without even scoring a career half-century.
