There are the times when you realise why MS Dhoni is one of the most loved cricketers in the country and it is not only his heroics on the pitch that has earned him a place in people's hearts. The other day he not only recognised his old chaiwallah in Kolkata but also treated him to dinner.

Dhoni's life off the pitch is well documented, thanks to the biopic. It is well known that Dhoni worked as a TT in Kharagpur before he was called up for the Indian team.

While travelling to Kolkata for the Vijay Hazare Trophy with the Jharkhand team, the former Indian captain recognised Thomas, a chaiwallah, who used get him tea almost a decade ago. Thomas was taken aback when Dhoni recognised him instantly and then invited him to dinner at his hotel in the city, reported ScoopWhoop.

Thomas was ecstatic due to Dhoni’s gesture and said that he would rename his shop in Kharagpur as ‘Dhoni Tea Stall.’

In the match, Saurashtra restricted Jharkhand to 125 with Dhoni being the second highest scorer with 23 runs off 24 balls. Dhoni's side blew way Saurashtra for 83 to win the game.
